GILBERT MUSINGS: Art Collected ...is my personal blog, an insight into my brain to what I find interesting, unique, thought provoking, funny, warped and beautiful. All can be considered a visual eye-candy collection.

Tidbits from my art & culture Blogzine Art Nectar << (yea, you can click it to check it out) and my dabblings in photography and artwork are peppered throughout.

Took a trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art today to see the Andy Warhol Exhibit “The Last Decade”.
Here is one piece that was exhibited.

‘Self Strangulation’ - 1978
After going through the exhibit, (which was cool and interesting…but exhibits as such are quite short) (except for Tim Burton’s at MoMa, that lasted a while. It could be because it was packed. Anyway…) of course one has to peruse (Exit Through) the gift shop. I found nothing of interest pertaining to Andy Warhol, but I did find this book 642 Things to Draw.
Product Description: A rolling pin, a robot, a pickle, a water tower, a hammock, a wasp, a safety pin, a kiss. Budding artists and experienced sketchers alike will find themselves invigorated by this collection of offbeat, clever, and endlessly absorbing drawing prompts.
Some are deceptively simple (just try drawing a bicycle!), some are conceptually mind-bending (sketching the sound of girlish laughter?), and some are refreshingly basic (the only hard thing about drawing an egg is deciding how you want it to be cooked). Hip and helpful, 642 Things to Draw is the perfect inspirational sketchbook, sure to entertain and provoke the imagination of anyone ready to pick up a pencil.
Each page is blank, with ample room to draw what is stated on each page.
More Examples: a vampire, leftovers, Japan, a ripe banana, bugs, button, the wild blue yonder, etc…etc.
I immediately had to have it. What a wonderful idea to get the creative juices flowing. Forget a drawing a day for 365 days…it’s now 642. I figure if I draw one page a day for 642 days, that means I’ll be done in a year and 9 months. I will not only draw it, I will color the drawings as well. Cause what is the point if you do not put effort into it right?
If you’re into drawing…I recommend picking it up.
I’m excited to begin.
